I came to this book after reading the amazing 'A Beginner's Guide to Investment' book, by the same author. The first book does an amazing job in translating complex concepts into a pleasant, palatable reading. 'Picking Stocks' is a sort of follow up to the first book with the intention of giving readers a better way to evaluate stocks, but I found that this is not as good or straightforward as the first book.The feeling was that in this one the author 'threw' concepts at you, explaining them to a degree but not necessarily linking them together. It definitely has its value, as it explains the basics of Fundamental and Technical analysis and gives you a handful of ratios and measurements you can use when evaluating a stock, but I didn't find it as clear and concise as the first book.
The book seriously need some proofreading as well, with a few typos and misplaced sentences.

Good book for stock market education about the basic technical data on company's. Shows people how to investigate company's balance sheets etc. excellent choice for individual stock investing but not so much for investing as a whole. Lots of technical data and research information that might not interest the beginner investor, but well written nevertheless.
Some useful information here. I don't know about some of the text as it was not displayed properly though. I have tried to upload my own work to the in the past and have experienced this.
Great overview! No wasted points, easy to follow links to skip chapters, good bibliography in each chapter, easy to understand.
This book should be required reading before they graduate high school or college. Easy to read and understand, good reading.

this book served as a good guide to inform beginning investors on the valuable information to picking stocks. the pros and cons on choosing stocks for the long term and short term and it is also extremely important to do your homework and know the repercussions that you could face if you want to be an alpha dog and try to beat wall street and stock market. always keep in mind that regardless of the kind of investment that you make there's always going to be a risk factor that you just going to have to accept, there's a lot of things to take into account to achieving great dividends and making wise decisions if you want to invest in the stock market....
